Ergonomics study
The studies and acquisitions for the seat ergonomics of the new FRT car have begun. The chassis manager together with another member of the FRT built a wooden structure replicating a seat, so that the other team members could try it out and register their preferred positions, in terms of seat-pedal distance, axle-steering angle and seat tilt.
These values, as well as other geometric measurements, were then recorded in order to characterise and define a comfortable riding position, which also allows an optimal view of the track so as not to affect race performance.
As a final step, the design of the seat was carried out by taking photographs and comparing them using a CAD programme, in order to determine a line of development for the testers’ backs, so as to obtain a seat design that would wrap around the drivers in the best possible way and make them feel at one with the new car.
